Salt Lake County Redistricting Commission Application Available Now

The Salt Lake County Council is seeking qualified applicants to serve as members of Salt Lake County’s Redistricting Commission. Seven commission members will be appointed to serve in an advisory capacity to the Council for the purpose of helping the Council draw its district maps as a part of the decennial redistricting process. No more than three members of the commission may be from the same political party. Commission members must be active, registered Salt Lake County voters for each of the last three years, and must be committed to applying the constitutional and statutory requirements relating to redistricting in an honest, independent and impartial fashion and to upholding public confidence in the integrity of the redistricting process. Commission members will provide service on a voluntary basis with the assistance of Council and County staff, and are expected to participate in Commission meetings at often as once or twice a month, with greater participation required as Census data is published during 2021.

Applications are due to the Council by 5:00 pm, on Friday, August 7, 2020.
