Salt Lake County’s Only Official Mardi Gras Coming to the County Library’s Viridian Event Center
Jeff Buydos -
SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah—The County Library is celebrating New Orleans culture with a ragin’ Cajun Mardi Gras brouhaha at the Library’s Viridian Event Center.
The gala will include beads, music, food, a parade and more.
“We want to bring the excitement and mystique of New Orleans’ Mardi Gras to people in Salt Lake County,” said Viridian Event Center event coordinator David Woodruff. “The food, music and festivities are great, and there are also some more mysterious elements of Mardi Gras that we partake in.”
Attendees are encouraged to don masks and dress formally for the event, where they will select krewes—groups that participate in Mardi Gras festivities—before taking part in Mardi Gras traditions.
New Orleans jazz from band Louisiana 801 and southern treats like chicken and waffles, Cajun sausage puffs, gumbo and mocktails will provide fantastic beats and bite-sized eats.
Tickets are required for the adults-only event, and are available at: thecountylibrary.org/mardigras.
