Salt Lake City, UT - Go for a run, a walk, rollerblade or ride a bike with Mayor Jenny Wilson along the Jordan River on Tuesday, September 24th. Inspired by Mayor Wilson’s focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle, and as part of Jordan River Commission’s Get to the River Festival, Mayor Wilson is encouraging the public, along with Salt Lake County employees to join her and enjoy fitness, beautiful scenery and healthy refreshments.

The Salt Lake County Mayor’s Office is partnering with the county’s very own employee wellness program for this event. Healthy Lifestyles is an incentive-based, work-site wellness program that encourages county employees to engage in healthy behaviors to promote a healthier work environment and lower healthcare costs. Salt Lake County health educators will be on hand to provide healthy lifestyle tips.

The Get to the River Festival is a month-long series of community events centered on the Jordan River and Jordan River Parkway. During 30 days in September, cities and counties along the river host events that help celebrate, protect and restore the Jordan River. “During my career in public service, the Jordan River has held a special place in my heart. As one of the founding members of the Jordan River Commission, I couldn’t be more thrilled to see a once neglected river corridor transform into an amenity for our region,” said Mayor Wilson.
