Letters of Commendation

Letters are the primary method by which individuals and community organizations can be recognized for their contributions to Salt Lake County. The goal of a letter of commendation is to honor, celebrate, or create awareness of an individual, organization, event, or significant issue that contributes to the betterment of the Salt Lake County community. To request a letter of commendation, please send an email to mayor@slco.org and include:

  1. A brief summary of the organization, event, or issue requesting the letter.
  2. A specific date for the letter (day, week, or month).  Please also provide the date the letter is needed by. A minimum of two weeks’ notice is required.
  3. Draft language or bullet points to be included in the letter. (Must fit on one page in 12-point font)
  4. Provide a contact name, phone number, and e-mail address. Arrangements will be made for pick-up once the document is complete.

Proclamations

Proclamations will be granted in a very limited capacity as a way of proclaiming a singular, countywide event or anniversary. Proclamation requests may be submitted directly to the Mayor's Office for consideration but must be received 21 days prior to the requested proclamation date and may be rejected if they are not received soon enough. Proclamations are strictly ceremonial; they are not legally binding and should not be interpreted as a policy endorsement.
