2023 Summer Camps

Summer Camp Partnerships with the Natural History Museum of Utah

    • 8/4/2023 – 8/10/2023 (4 day camp)
      • Planetary Detectives, for rising 2nd and 3rd grade students
        • Journey through the galaxy and explore the mysteries of our solar system. Monday and Tuesday will be spent at Clark Planetarium with campers learning about the planets, stars, and constellations while enjoying other spaced-out projects and activities including an IMAX, Dome, and Science on a Sphere show. Wednesday and Thursday will be at NHMU, investigating the powerful processes that sculpt our Earth from weathering to the water cycle. We’ll explore soil science, investigate rocks and minerals, and create volcanoes and earthquakes.
        • Drop off and pick up take place at Clark Planetarium on Monday and Tuesday and at NHMU on Wednesday and Thursday.  No camp on Friday.
      • Dynamic Universe, for rising 4th and 5th grade students
        • Journey through the galaxy and explore the mysteries of Earth and space. While at NHMU on Monday and Tuesday, campers will investigate the powerful processes that sculpt our Earth from weathering to the water cycle. We’ll also explore rocks and minerals, and create volcanoes and earthquakes. On Wednesday and Thursday, while at the Clark Planetarium, campers will learn about the planets and constellations while enjoying other spaced-out projects and activities including an IMAX, Dome, and Science on a Sphere show.
        • Drop off and pick up take place at NHMU on Monday and Tuesday and at Clark Planetarium on Wednesday and Thursday. No camp on Friday.

Summer Camp Partnerships with Red Butte Gardens

    • Camps are for rising 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students
    • Camps are at Red Butte Garden Monday – Thursday, and at Clark Planetarium on Friday

    • Solar System Survivors: 6/12/2023 – 6/16/2023
      • Get ready for an adventure! Spend Monday through Thursday at Red Butte Garden where campers will have time with representatives from both organizations. While at Red Butte Garden you’ll learn to survive in the wild as you explore the basics of navigation, learn to identify safe and useful plants, discover how to make a shelter, and other valuable survival skills. With Clark Planetarium you will learn about the extreme environments found in outer space and what astronauts have to do in order to survive. On Friday you will spend the day at Clark Planetarium, where campers will learn night sky navigation techniques in the planetarium dome.
    • Eco Earthlings: 7/17/2023 – 7/21/2023
      • Spend Monday through Thursday at Red Butte Garden where campers will have time with representatives from both organizations. With Red Butte you’ll discover how you can help improve the environment through recycling, composting, and water conservation, as you explore the Garden, create a reusable lunch bag, build your own countertop compost bin, and more. With Clark Planetarium, campers will learn about our planet from the perspective of outer space, the technology used to study the entire planet, and how rare a truly habitable planet is. On Friday, you’ll get to spend the whole day at the Planetarium, checking out the planetarium dome and much more.
