Field Trips

A class presentation with Clark Planetarium's Science on a Sphere.

Three easy ways to request a field trip

  1. Fill out the online form (also located from the Home Page under the "Education," tab "Schedule a Field Trip" drop-down item);
  2. E-mail clarkreservations@slco.org; or
  3. Call 385-468-1227, between Monday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A typical field trip lasts two to three hours, and it can include the following:

Reservation Guidelines

  • Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance.
  • Reservations can only be made for groups of 20 or more people. (Some exceptions apply.)
  • All reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Reservation requests are not guaranteed until you receive a final confirmation sheet and confirmation number.

Chaperones and Behavior

  • Teachers and adult chaperones are responsible for managing student behavior. In the event of disruptive behavior, Clark Planetarium reserves the right to ask any group to leave the facility.
  • We require one non-teacher chaperone for every eight students.
  • Chaperones are required to be with your students at all times during the visit. Chaperones are expected to keep students respectful of one another, of other guests, and of the Planetarium and its staff.
  • Groups who do not prearrange to have store time when requesting their trip will not be allowed into the Planet Fun Store during their trip. All members of the group will be turned away including students, teachers, and chaperones. This cannot be changed or added the day of the trip.

Food and Lunch

  • Food is only allowed in the IMAX theatre.
  • Items purchased at the concessions stand may only be eaten in the concessions area and the Northrop Grumman IMAX Theatre.
  • We have no interior lunch space, besides the IMAX theatre. This must be prearranged. For groups that want to have lunch outside, we recommend the Gateway Plaza on North Rio Grande Street, a plaza at the Olympic fountains at the north end of the mall.
  • Field Trip groups seeing a film in the IMAX Theatre may pre-purchase a $2.00 School Popcorn and Drink Combo. This discounted combo is only available as part of a reservation, and cannot be redeemed at the concessions stand.
  • Groups who do not prearrange to have concessions time when requesting their trip will not be allowed to have concessions during their trip. All members of the group will be turned away including students, teachers, and chaperones. This cannot be changed or added the day of the trip.

Tickets Payment and Pricing

  • A single-sum payment is required for your entire group.
  • Group members who pay separately will be charged regular ticket prices.
  • Payment must be made by credit card, cash or check. (We accept purchase orders from Utah public schools only.)
  • Any changes in your group’s size may increase or decrease the total cost for the field trip.
