Health Promotion & Education at Senior Centers
Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services' Active Aging Program provides many evidence-based classes and workshops that educate older adults on the importance of staying healthy while offering individuals the opportunity to engage in physical activity.
These classes and workshops are provided through a network of 15 County-operated senior centers throughout Salt Lake County.
To participate in most Health Promotion Classes:
- You must be 60 years of age or older
- Or you must be the spouse of someone 60 years of age or older
- Caregiver for someone 60 and older

Looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity? We are recruiting volunteers interested in teaching and leading a variety of programs that help older adults improve their health.
Stanford Self-Management - 6 Week Classes:
- Living Well with Chronic Conditions
- Living Well with Diabetes
- Tomando de Su Salud
Stepping On - 7 week fall prevention program
Walk With Ease - 6 week walking program for people with arthritis & others who want to start a walking program
Mind Over Matter: Healthy Bowels, Healthy Bladder - 3 week program to help women with bladder and bowel incontinence
Tai Chi For Arthritis & Fall Prevention – 8 week Dr. Paul Lam Tai Chi class
The Aging Mastery Program – 10 week program to help older adults learn a variety of topics to master aging
Dealing With Dementia – A 4 hour class help caregivers learn to navigate a caregiver resource guide from the Rosalyn Carter Institute of Caregiving
Dementia Dialogues – 5 week class to help caregivers learn more about dementia and how to care for someone
The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program – 16 session physical activity class that incorporates cardio, stretching and balance exercises
Stepping Up Your Nutrition – A 2 hour class to teach about how balanced nutrition aids in fall prevention
